Merry Christmas
Wanting to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year. If reading the words Merry Christmas offends you, my only advice is to get over it. I am a Christian and Christmas is a Christian holiday so deal with it. If you are not a professing Christian, then why do you celebrate Christmas? Do you celebrate Hanukkah and not profess to be Jewish, or how about celebrating Ramadan (sp?) even though you aren't Muslim? The real reason for Christmas is a celbration and rememberance of Christ's birth; when the Son of God left his heavenly home and came to earth as a man for the sole purpose of dying for OUR sins so that we may spend eternity in heaven with Him. So why do we exchange gifts? The gifts are symbolic of God's gift to mankind in that He gave His only Son as the perfect sacrifice for OUR sins. We really DON'T have to exchange gifts at Christmas, but do you really want to die for someone else? Just a thought.

Happy Thanksgiving
Things are a little slow on the homefront now, what with no plants to collect and deer season just getting started. So, if by chance, anyone is following this blog, don't expect alot of posts until spring when collecting season starts. However, I will relate interesting snippets that wander through my fevered brain, so keep checking back. I'll just end this one by wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, and reminding you that everyday can be Thanksgiving -- all you have to do is stop and think of at least one thing that you are thankful for. Right now, I'm thankful that this is still a country of freedom; where we are free to do whatever we feel like so long as it doesn't infringe upon the freedoms of others (but don't just take my word for it, go read or re-read the Declaration of Independence -- the first paragraph should suffice)

Black Wednesday
If ignorance is bliss, then there are alot of happy idiots in this country today after the election yesterday. The majority of those that voted for the winner of the election have NO CLUE!! what the man's agendas are; they only saw skin color -- now who's the racist?

Fayette County Flora beginning
Began some minor collecting of the Fayette County flora just to knock off some of the rust of using identification keys again and to get back into the swing of things. Collected some really neat plants -- some I knew and some no clue but that's why they make keys. Here are a few of my as of yet unknowns (most I have to genus).

Beginning next spring (around March), I will embark on a complete flora of the county I live in and am planning on taking pics of each specimen I collect and post it here.
